Motivation

Welcome back!

How do you become motivated?

Stephen R. Covey — "Motivation is a fire from within. If someone else tries to light that fire under you, chances are it will burn very briefly."

You will only be successful if the motivation comes from within.

12 Steps to Create Motivation:

 1)  Define your goal down to the minute detail.

2)  Sustain a positive attitude.

If you are not a positive person by nature, you can make changes in your attitude to create it.  Read uplifting literature/posts/books.

Position yourself to be around positive people.  If someone comes to you, ready to gossip about the juicy rumor of the day, stop them in their tracks.  A successful person is focused on how to improve themselves, not tear down someone else.  Always be loyal to the absent.

3)  Set aside personal problems.

Everyone has problems, but your character is shown in how you deal with it.  If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’swe’d grab ours back.

4)  Always continue to learn.

Improve your knowledge, keep up on existing skills and learn new ones!  From the book “The Holy Man”:

“Keep learning about the world.  When you are reading a magazine or newspaper, consider reading a novel or poetry.  When reading a novel, consider reading a book on astronomy or bird behavior.  Realize you have at least an extra hour every day, probably four, in which to learn a language or calculus.  Use your mind to the hilt.  Life passes quickly and, toward the end, gathers speed like a freight train running downhill.  The more you know, the more you enrich yourselves and others.”

5)  Be passionate!

A passionate person is excited and positive about life, but they do not sit back and watch the world go by.  They are doers!

6)  Eliminate energy draining people or situations.

Sometimes, you have to “fire” negative people from your life.  It’s okay.  If others are full of  negativity, they are hindering you from reaching your dreams, not HELPING to reach them.  Cut them loose.

From 3 Recruiting Tips for Network Marketers: "...don't give the wrong person your energy!"

7)  Implement positive self-talk.

Even if you do not know how to begin, first start reading and listening to media that gives you positive words to use in your life.  This will begin to be your vocabulary and your confidence will grow.  If you begin to stray from this, create a mantra that can bring your focus back around.  If you cannot be positive to yourself, you absolutely cannot exude positive leadership to others.

There's Nothing WORSE Than...

8)  Find inspiration.

I love to find motivation in quotes.  I have a love of words from my dad, who in turn received a love of words from his mother.  Words are powerful.  This is a great, INSPIRING speech by Denzel Washington!

9)  Get help.

There are so many that you can gain motivation from, whether it is people you know, or someone you read about.  Audio books are readily available.  The internet shrinks the confines of this world and you can communicate with a guru on a Tuesday night from halfway across the globe!  Talk to your mentor in a different state, a different country!  The resources are everywhere!

10)  Then put that into action.

Do.  It's easy to DO, but the problem is that it's easy NOT to do!  Just start doing and with your positive attitude, expertise from your mentors, and following these other steps will propel you into the success you deserve!

"Do or do not, there is no try."  Yoda

11)  Stay focused on the reward.

“Keep your eye on the prize.”  The world we live in moves at the speed of light and we are required to be in ten places at once, doing everything perfectly.  Our minds need to stop and go to a quiet place of introspection.  A place to listen and be.  Meditate.  Your mind will thank you.

12)  Acknowledge and reward success.

As you acknowledge smaller successes on the way to a larger goal, momentum and motivation grows.  Truly celebrate the times when you reach a benchmark and you will accomplish more than you ever thought was possible!
