What We Leave Behind

...the quality of being great, distinguished, or eminent.

I continue to wax nostalgic after this week's events.  And, looking inward, what we can really leave behind after we die?  Anything?  Because {spoiler alert} no one makes it out alive.  But we can leave behind greatness.

Have Devotion

Be consistently devoted to your beliefs.  The saying "if you stand for nothing, you fall for anything" applies here.  You will be respected if you show this devotion and it comes out in your actions.  Unwavering, day-in, day-out proof that you really belief in what you're doing...  it becomes an inherent, ingrained part of you.  Without that devotion, you would not be whole.

Each of us is a Teacher, but it comes down to what we are teaching.  Are we teaching Good?  Are we teaching Truth?  Are we Devoted to the Beliefs we are Teaching?  People can see a lie a mile away.  Alternately, they can also see the Light eminating from you.

Take the Time

There is a time for every single thing in life.  Recognize when the Time is Right to do things.  Ask for Wisdom to recognize it.  But you don't have to wait for the right time - you have the power to create it.

Be Grateful

Do not take abundance for granted.  Regardless of who you are and what your circumstance is, you will always have a reason to Be Grateful.  Acknowledge and appreciate each and every day.  Take notice of special moments.  Celebrate them.

Be Kind

Do not Practice Random acts of Kindness...  Practice Purposeful acts of Kindness.  Unsolicited, unexpected, altruistic acts.

Live the way you want to be remembered.

The sum total of the above creates Greatness.  This is not a quality in which a pedestal is involved.  It is a quiet humility from which Greatness shines from the inward, out.

Carve your name on hearts, not tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you.
— Shannon L. Alder

Leaving behind this legacy leaves an imprint of hope & good on the world.  It leaves an ECHO.

Leave an echo.  Leave a clue as to the person you are.  Having left that clue over and over means you had built a strong character.

Be a person of distinction - and one of which people will say when you are gone:

You have fought the fight for good.

You have finished the race.

You have upheld the faith that supports your beliefs.

Be a person that never requires a fuss... and when you're gone, people will certainly fuss about you!
